CCC’s Medical Assistant A.A.S. Degree Program is designed to provide graduates with the skills and knowledge that will enable them to qualify for entry-level positions as Medical Assistants. Since Medical Assistants are trained in both administrative and clinical procedures, they are capable of filling a variety of entry-level positions, including clinical and administrative positions, medical receptionist, and medical insurance biller. The A.A.S. Degree is intended to provide general education skills to the clinically trained student.

Medical Assistant students at CCC will be taught the clinical and technical skills along with professionalism necessary for entry-level employment in the healthcare field.  Students will also gain knowledge in both the administrative and clinical skills through hands-on classroom training.  CCC’s Medical Assistant students will also gain real world experience through externships. Upon satisfactory completion of the program, graduates are eligible to take the Medical Assistant Certification Examination and earn the credentials of Certified Medical Assistant.


  • Apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control
  • Practice standard precautions
  • Perform sterilization techniques
  • Collect and process specimens
  • Perform electrocardiography and respiratory testing
  • Perform phlebotomy, including venipunture and capiliary puncture
  • Obtain, evaluate, and record patient history
  • Prepare insurance forms
  • Perform procedural and diagnostic coding
  • Perform billing and collections procedures
  • Perform bookkeeping and financial procedures
  • Schedule, coordinate and monitor appointments
  • Perform initial response screening
  • Obtain vital signs
  • Prepare and administer medications
  • Recognize and respond to emergencies
  • Perform methods of quality control
